i dont think they should be able because there not true U.S. citisions they just past a test to become part of the U.S.

Christy Studer said...

I think that if the legal non-citizens can pass the test to become a citizen, then they should be able to vote. They have to know a lot about our country to pass the test, so I think they are qualified to vote.

dirtydeeds said...

Hells no. Its not fair to the people and the persons voted on. No test, no excuses

nick thomas said...

I agree with nathan they should not be able to vote because they could hurt america by their vote. They could affect us by being against america. Yes most people who become citizens are going to be good but you cant trust anyone anymore.

asharch5 said...

I say no because like nick said, nobody can be trusted anymore. What if a citizen passes the test because they know a lot about our country.. But, for all we know they could do harm to our country...

Erika said...

This can go either way. There are some legal non-citizens that really just want to be part of something better, but there are also some people that may have only passed the test because they have been doing research about the United States. Which could possibly harm the people of the U.S.

If a person does not fully understand the foundations that America was built on then how can they vote? I guess it would depend on how much they do understand seeing as how there are plenty of Americans who have no idea what is going on, but voting is a right promised to all Americans not people who just became Americans.

I say no. I agree with what Nick and Ashley say. Just because they past the test doesn't mean much. They just know about our country, but they could harm our country as well.

Andrew Shores said...

No.People should just take the test for citizenship if they want to vote that badly. What if a candidate went and campaigned in another country just so the people would come here, vote for him, then leave?

I don't think that it is fair to other American citizens to allow people to vote who do not live here or who have been citizen for only a minimal amount of time. Then again though I think people who do vote should be required to know what is going on in America so they can make an informed choice.

Blaine Varney said...

No. I think you should have to be an American citizen to be able to vote.

Ashley McClary said...

I don't think they should be able to vote because they are not true U.S. citizens. It's not fair to the true ctizens.

Day Waugh said...

Everyone is saying they don't truly understand how the government works, so they shouldn't be able to vote... or if they pass the test, they can vote. Most of the kids in our government classes don't understand our government, nor could they pass the citizenship test. Yet, if we were to tell THEM they couldn't vote- it would be a constitutional blasphemy!

But really, I don't think non-citizens should vote. If they pass the citizenship test to become a citizen than obviously they are more qualified to vote than most of our natural born citizens.

Actually to vote at ALL you should have to pass the citizenship test. But good luck with THAT one.

ryan said...

They shouldn't be able to vote. For one thing if we went to any other country I guarantee they wouldn't allow us to vote. If it is really so important to them to vote thats why we have a citizenship test. However I think everyone should have to take it before they can become a registered voter and if they don't pass they become registered until they do. So no not until they pass a citizenship test and become a citizen.

No

no, they're not even apart the United States. That would be like giving illegal aliens free money when they move here.. oh wait..

JONESY50 said...

If your not a citizen you shouldnt be allowed to vote

BryanGuyer said...

No, i don think they should. They arent even part of the U.S.

Jeniffer said...

I think Everyone should have he right to vote even if your not from this country doesnt one of the amendments say freedom of speech? so there for everyone should have a right to vote.

Kirsten said...

Yes, they should have a right to vote. People think that there could be terrorists that want nothing but to bring our nation down. But what if there are born citizens who want nothing but the same thing? We can't be prejudice.

Jade said...

No I do not think non-citizens should have the right to vote. They can hurt our country by voting for what they don't know.

I agree with Christy if they pass a citizenship test then yes they should be able to vote and have a say in what goes on in our country.

No, we don't want any non citizens messing up our political system. We screw it up enough by ourselves.

I don't think they should be able to vote because if they don't hold an allegiance to our country then why should they get the opportunity to make decisions that affect the citizens that do hold an allegiance to this country. I don't want people making decisions that affect me if in six months they won't live here.

Leebin Hood said...

I don't believe that they should have the right to vote as they don't hold a standing with our country.

Caity said...

I don't believe that legal non-citizens should be able to vote. Mainly to due with the fact that once their visa's are up, they leave the country. If there is a possibility that they are going to leave the country for good, and not become a citizen, what good are the things they vote for then? I find it pretty pointless.
