Is man in his natural state, good or evil?

I think man is generally good in his natural state, but not always. Now women is a different story...just kidding. Anyway, in the natural state humans only kill for food or if they feel in danger. On the other side what makes a human not in his natural state?

I think man are not evil, but they do evil things. They do these things but this isn't all they do. They also do good so they can't be classified as evil.

I believe that man in his natural state is good because nobody that was ever born is made to be evil. I think it is an acquired state.

I agree with jeremyjoemills. I think that the only way that men can be in an evil state is when you have them backed into a corner and there only way to survive is to fight

garth said...

I don't believe man is evil in his natural state. I do think under certain circumstances man can act evil. But his desire is to be good.

I think this one can go both ways. I would have to say man is more good than evil though. Man can do evil things but also they do good, so therefore I don't think you can classify them as just one of them.

If in there natural state man has to fight for survival is that considered evil? In my opinion fighting for survival is not labeled evil.

I think man is good in his natural state. God created man to be good. Its how others raise man will determine if he stays good or turns to the dark side.

dirtydeeds said...

Well i guess i have no comment because according to the Joker on the Dark Knight "In there final moments those people will show you how they really are" So therefore i cannot determine.

I think man is good in his natural state because we where created that way for a reason and it was not for evil. We bring evil upon ourselves.

I think man is naturally good. I have never met a child who is evil. A person must be influenced negatively for some one to become evil. A man, not a child is the evil dictator like Hitler.

People were created to be good and do good, and most people are. Circumstances such as upbringings and life-altering events can change someone for the worse.

Plus, some people are born psychopaths, schizophrenics, and sociopaths and literally can not be good.

Nathan had some wise words, though. That quote really does have truth to it.

men are good in natural state, they have a good heart...but that is without the influences of others...

jeremyjoemills said...

when did anyone say that we were created for only good?

@jeremyjoemills

For me, it's personal belief. I don't like to be pessimistic. There's probably religions out there that believe that, though.

Man can be good and do evil things. For example killing somebody is evil but if it is in defense then you can't classify them as evil

I think that it's only a man!!!! we aren't good or evil...we can do good or evil things because we haven't a natural state. The man thinks that what he does it's right but it could be a good thing or a devil thing.

I'm not sure I believe people have a 'natural state'. I believe a lot of how we act and the things we do come from what we've been taught and how we react and learn/change from those things; whether they be good or evil. For example, a child that is born into an abusive family isn't necssarily going to also be abusive to his/her children (or anyone else for that matter).

I believe that a man in the natural state is undefined; he is neither good nor bad. Only throughout faith and experience can one truly recognize the differences of good and evil.

The Phantom said...

Man is good. Man will choose what is best for himself and the community if given the choice.

jeremyjoemills said...

Agree very much with Kirsten

Jen said...

Man can be good and do both evil things. For example killing somebody is evil but if it is in defense then you can't call him crazy or evil unless it was an act of hobby, randomness or hatred.

BryanGuyer said...

I think man was created to be good, but its us to become evil.

kpearson said...

Yes i agree bryan I think we are born good but we choose to be bad

I don't really believe man has a natural state anymore. To be a truly natural state, wouldn't it require the lack of any outside influences, including religion? From the very moments we're born, or conceived if you're one of those people that think babies learn in the womb, we are inoculated with the very edge of basic morality; Be Good. Our entire lives we are instructed on moral correctness, and some people are raised differently, or have other circumstances that make them perform evil acts.

sbullerbuller said...

i believe that man intention is to be Good. but because of sin and everything, man is in a constant state of rebellion. and that is why we see evil people and sin in our world

JONESY50 said...

I agree with Jake... we are all born to be good... but the negative influences on the way a child lives impacts life for their's and the people around them which then impact's other lives to be good or bad... i also believe that you can't classify a man that kills for the GOOD of his family as being evil he is just supporting and being an influence on his children to do GOOD things and support there families... Now if the man were to drink to get drunk in front of his children... that is bad and should be classified as EVIL

I agree with Kelly and Bryan man are created to do good things but its their decision to become evil.

Jeniffer said...

I think a man in its natural start of mind could be good or evil. Every human being has a way of expressing himself/herself in different ways nor it be good or evil.

Thomas Mccurry said...

I think a man nature can be god and evil at the sametime because it depends on the mode thy are in.

Kayler said...

Man is not evil in his natural state. Man becomes evil after being corupted by greed and lust.

Erika said...

I believe that man is both good and bad. They are good, because they can create pretty useful things. They are bad, because they can destroy and kill.

He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man

Leebin Hood said...

Honestly, I believe good and evil is completely relative. The line between what we see as good or evil is blurred from one individual from the next as our experiences and upbringing create our own unique interpretation. In the case of Hitler, he believed that his eradication of "inferior" individuals would help build Germany into a great and secure empire built on it's own law and order and thus a good act, but we deem his actions as evil.

nick thomas said...

I think that in all man is good. But there is some that become evil or do evil things. Man can be whoever he wants by choice and some choose good and some may choose evil but its by influence and how he wants to be.

Slee said...

I believe that Leeban had something when they said that there is no good or evil. Truly there is no real good or any real evil, just how we perceive the events taking place.

Thomas Mccurry said...

i agree with jeremy because man nature can be god or evil. If they are killing for food or the feel in danger.

Christy Studer said...

The nature of man is undefined. The way man can be defined is by his. Faith if he chooses to sin all the time he may become evil. If man stays true to his faith he is good.

Anonymous said...

Mans natural state was intended to be good, but cause of sin and temptation men can have the natural state of evil, but that is if man lets sin win.

Anonymous said...

I think man is created to be good in his natural state, but can be evil. It is ones choice of how he chooses to be defined.

May Buntita said...

I think man has both good and bad side. It depends on what sides they want to show.

ryan said...

It depends by what reference you want to go by. If going from a Biblical standpoint than man first born is not evil they are pure of heart as an infant, so if it is referring to that as man's natural state than man is not evil as stated in the bible. However if you go by an Adam and Eve stance than man is in fact evil because he committed sin therefore making him evil. It depends on the stance you look at it and from what kind of reference point you want to look at it.

I think man in his natural state is good but man can act evil at some points.

i think he could be both good and bad. god did creat man to be good but man wasn't good until moses came alone then men started to be good

Ashley McClary said...

I think when you are born into your natural state you are born with a clean slate. Anything that happens can make man good or evil. So I think it depends on what happens to you and how you let it affect you. Man can be both good and evil in their natural state.

Well it's hard to define what mans natural state is. My opinion is based off of what my religion has taught me. Man was born with original sin, but seeks out god through baptism to redeem his soul. I think it is up to man to determine what he wants himself to be defined as ..evil ..or good. It's all about the choices we make.
